I know, which is why I tested it with the videos saved from fraps as well, only to result in the same problem

What exactly do you need a screenshot of? The problem is that the fields are visible even when a video from fraps is rendered uncompressed in Vegas, and converting to divx makes the video pixellated compared to xvid, so is there any settings I need to configure?

I had also tried this before xvid, but divx videos came out rather pixellated. Only xvid seemed to retain a high enough quality which is somewhat confusing as I know other users have used divx.

No, there is no blurring at all in the videos that were first compressed with dub. It is only after rendering with Vegas that this occurs.

I have tried it with each available option in Vegas but still to no avail Do you know how to set it in virtualdub? Also another bizzarre problem is that to compress the videos in virtualdub xvid needs to be installed, yet they will not play in Vegas. Uninstalling xvid fixes this...

No, but the settings you suggested didn't change anything unless they are not being applied?

It happens in both motion and whilst paused, and those settings were already applied in the project properties.

Vegas rendering problems

I am currently experiencing some persistent problems in making my movie with Sony Vegas. What I am trying to do is use virtualdub to compress the videos that were recorded with fraps into xvid avi files. Whilst I know that the uncompressed fraps videos are of better quality, the file sizes are extremley high due to the lack of compression, and, after seeing the resultant videos from virtualdub, I felt it was worth the sacrafice. Despite the decreased file size, these xvid videos were still of extremley high quality and almost matched that of the videos from fraps.

However, rendering these xvid videos, using the default uncompressed setting in Vegas, does not result in the same high quality, as there is a strange blurring present in the video that was not there before in the xvid files, as demonstrated in this screenshot:

I would also like the video to play in a widescreen aspect ratio, which is not being achieved when saving it uncompressed in Vegas. I have the project video properties set to PAL DV Widescreen (720x576), yet the video does not render in widescreen as you can see in the same screenshot.

Any help would be appreciated

The videos I saved in virtualdub using Xvid still retained a very high quality, but I can't afford to keep so many large uncompressed files on my hard drive. How did you get round this problem?

I was following the instructions at the start of this topic, which stated to capture using fraps and then save with virtual dub, before editing with vegas.

The thing is, I did have it working before. Previously it would render most of the videos but not render the last few, now it isn't rendering any of them

I don't think it is a codec problem because it did render before, albeit only showing some videos. It also still plays within the preview box.

I have tried to position the yellow pointer so that it covers the entire project and also selected each file individually, but it is still not rendering any video

I too am having this problem - rendering everything is resulting in a file with no video and just audio. And yet it did render before, it is only after adding more videos that it isn't.

I managed to convert the videos, but I am now having serious performance issues when trying to edit them in Vegas. Trying to play the video in preview is impossible as it delays so much, which I find really strange as I am on a very new PC (2.33 dual processor with 2gb ram) and nothing has really lagged for me before.

I'm trying to convert videos saved from fraps using virutaldub with the Xvid codec but it is reporting that a statsfile is not found? I wish to retain quality in each video, but the videos saved from fraps are simply too large.

And how do you go about that?

Just to update you all, the next scenes that we are filming do not require as many drivers as before, and we have already scheduled the drivers we are using. After this however, we will need more players again so stay tuned later this month

Is it possible to edit out areas of the track, such as billboards, or add things externally within the movie? I have Vegas.

Quote from wien :I've never heard of that specific mod, but any mod altering the way LFS renders is unlikely to work now. Complain to the mod author.

Do reflection mods not work with this patch? After installing this, the reflections did not seem to be working, and my wheels had changed colour from white to grey which caused problems for a replay I was wanting to film. Reverting back to patch Y solved this, but I would like to use the new replay controls, so is there any way of solving this?
